Winding Paths

As your party walks into the valley between mountains, you notice the path getting narrower and narrower. Eventually, rock gives way to walls of thorny bush surrounding you from both sides.

You encounter a fork in your path, then another. Getting suspicious, you ask the largest party member to hoist the smallest onto their shoulders and peek above the wall. They gasp.

A maze, they report. You’ve walked straight into a hedge maze, stretching as far as they can see.

Stranger yet, it seems to react to your actions. As soon as they’ve looked over the wall, the branches of the hedge twist upward until they’re further than any of you can see past.

When you attempt to backtrack and leave, you notice that the path has shifted and there’s no way out. When you attempt to set one of the walls ablaze, your fire licks against the leaves but leaves no burn mark, somehow useless. You’re trapped, and the only way out seems to be through.

You trek ahead, ready to face whatever dangers lie in the maze.
